On 2 July 2026, the Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine, Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas, visited the site of the Russian missile strike on a residential building in Kyiv, where emergency rescue operations are still underway. He prayed for the victims of yet another Russian attack, for the rescue workers, and also for Russia, asking the Lord to grant the country the grace of conversion, turning away from war and embracing the path of peace.
During the night of 2 July 2026, Russia launched one of the largest aerial attacks on Kyiv, striking residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure with missiles and drones. The attack claimed lives and left dozens of people injured. Search and rescue operations at the site of the strike are still ongoing.
