Supporting Peace and Standing in Solidarity with Ukraine: Archbishop Gallagher Meets President Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, and expressed his gratitude to Pope Leo XIV and the Holy See for their continued support of Ukraine. During the meeting, the parties discussed peace initiatives, the possibility of future talks between Ukraine and Russia with the Holy See’s mediation, and the role of the church in supporting Ukrainians affected by the war.

The discussion also focused on Ukraine’s European integration. The Holy See’s representative reaffirmed the Vatican’s readiness to continue supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a just peace and expressed support for Ukraine’s path toward European Union membership.
