Pope Leo XIV Thanks for Support to Ukrainians During Severe Frosts
Pope Leo XIV, during the General Audience on February 4, 2026, at the Vatican, drew the attention of the international community to the difficult humanitarian situation in Ukraine, which is worsening amid new strikes on energy infrastructure and abnormally low temperatures. Concluding the meeting with pilgrims, the Pontiff called for prayers for the Ukrainian people, who are once again enduring severe trials. Pope Leo XIV expressed special gratitude for the solidarity initiatives of Catholic dioceses in Poland and other countries that are providing support to those affected by the destruction of critical infrastructure and disruptions to energy supplies.
