Ecumenical Prayers in Kyiv on the Occasion of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
From January 18 to 25, the world observed the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity — a time when Christians of different denominations come together in shared prayer. This year’s theme, “One Body. One Spirit. One Hope of your calling”(Eph. 4:4), reminds us that true unity begins with unity in Christ, who is the foundation of the life of the Church.
In Kyiv, prayer events took place at St. Nicholas Church on January 22 and at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ on January 24. Bishops and clergy from Catholic, Orthodox, Armenian, and Protestant churches participated in the services.
During the prayers, participants prayed for peace, for the spiritual unity of Christians, and for all those affected by the war.
The Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine, Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas, was also present at the prayers. He emphasized the importance of shared prayer in deepening mutual understanding among different Christian communities and in supporting the unity of the Church.
